CHAPTER 6

Nico and Tania drove to some doctor they were told was the best in Puerto Plata. Tania had a full exam and the doctor said that everything was okay and that both Tania and the baby were in perfect health. The doctor even performed a sonogram. “Do you want to know what you are having?” he asked Tania. Tania responded with a no, but Nico said yes.

Tania looked at him. “Baby girl. I have to know. I can’t wait another three and a half, four months!” Nico said. “But I want it to be a surprise. I don’t want to know!” she replied.

“I don’t have to say it out loud. I could just write it down on a piece of paper and hand it to him. Then it would be up to him to tell you?” the doctor said. “Yeah, let’s do it like that. I have my suspicions, but I just want to make sure. I hope I’m not wrong!” he said with a big ass smile on his face.

They both watched as the doctor finished performing the sonogram. Tania saw a smile come over the doctor’s face. “Well, that settles it!” he said as he wrote something down on a piece of paper before handing it to Nico. Tania watched as Nico opened the paper and read whatever was on it. Although she said she didn’t want to know, a part of her did. She watched as a big smile came over Nico’s face. “Wow, not what I thought it was going to be. But cool! Thanks doc!” he said as he reached over and shook the doctor’s hand.

Twenty minutes later they walked out of the doctor’s office, hand and hand. Nico still had that big ass smile on his face all the way back to the house. Tania just stared at him. “Okay, you know what? I’m tired of seeing that big ass kool aid smile on your face. Tell me. What is it?” she said. “Nope. You said you wanted it to be a surprise. You can’t go back on your word now. I got a secret, I got a secret” he said. “I am going to hurt you if you don’t tell me what it is!” she said looking at him.

“Come here!” he said as he pulled her up to a standing position and looked down at her. “You are going to have a…healthy baby!” he said laughing. “Nico!” she said as she punched him in his arm. “What? Did you really think I was going to tell you what is in this pretty little belly of yours? Nope!” he said as he wrapped his arms around her. “Please?” she begged.

“Maybe if you give me a kiss. I might be able to be convinced into tell you what it is!” he said looking into her eyes. She stood on the tips of her toes and gave him one hell of a kiss before pulling back. Tania gave him a smile. “Is that enough convincing?” she asked.
